The Heart of Van Biljon Wines
Crafting Elegance from Terroir
The Winery
Van Biljon Wines thrives in the heart of the Polkadraai Hills, where our vineyard is perfectly situated on sun-kissed southern slopes. Benefiting from decomposed granite soils and the cooling breezes from False Bay, the unique terroir of our estate creates the ideal conditions for producing wines of remarkable complexity and depth.
The cooler microclimate slows down the ripening process, allowing our grapes more time to develop their rich, layered flavours before harvest. This exceptional climate and soil combination forms the backbone of our Bordeaux-style blends.

At Van Biljon, we hand-harvest each vine, carefully selecting only the finest fruit to ensure quality over quantity. The influence of our unique location is carried into the cellar, where minimal mechanical intervention allows the natural expression of the terroir to shine through. Each vintage reflects the character of our land, embodying the refined elegance and meticulous craftsmanship that define Van Biljon Wines.

Our wine – Cinq 2020
The 2020 vintage of Van Biljon Cinq continues the estate’s tradition of crafting a distinguished Bordeaux-style blend from the Polkadraai Hills of Stellenbosch. The wine reflects the character of deep decomposed granite soils and the cooling maritime influence of False Bay.
Aromatically expressive, the wine reveals layers of blackcurrant, dark cherry and subtle violet notes, complemented by hints of cedar, graphite and classic French oak after 18 months of barrel maturation. The palate is vibrant and structured, with beautifully fine-grained tannins supporting the rich dark fruit core, while fresh acidity brings balance and elegance.
The result is a wine of power and precision, where polished structure and pure fruit combine to deliver a long, refined finish – showcasing both the pedigree of the Polkadraai Hills and the meticulous winemaking behind Van Biljon Cinq.
Van Biljon Cinq has earned its place among the finest wines, gracing the tables of prestigious Michelin-starred restaurants in Belgium, England, and Scotland. With a reputation for excellence, this distinguished wine has also been selected for three consecutive years to be served in the Royal Box at the prestigious OUT-SOURCING!
